"It had to be as honest as possible," Elton John says in this clip about his brave new film, "Rocketman". "The lows were very low, the highs were very high."
I'm so grateful to him for his commitment to vulnerability all over this film, letting us in, behind his glasses, his eyes, his bravado, to expose the little boy who never felt enough, told by his mother, that as a gay man, he would never be loved "properly."
This movie, like "A Star is Born," is the latest of several truer depictions of addiction than we typically see on the silver screen.
I feel hopeful we'll get more of the same.
